Ford Recalls 800 Vehicles
In the headlines this afternoon, Ford Motor is recalling 800,000 pickups and sport utility vehicles because of a defect.
The automaker said the cruise control switch
could short circuit, leading to a fire under the hood. Recalled models
include 2001 Ford F-150 pickups, Expeditions and Lincoln
Navigators, as well as 2001 F-Series Supercrew trucks. Dealers will
deactivate the switch for free and vehicle owners will be able to get
it replaced. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration began
investigating the defect in November after receiving 36 reports of
fires.
